Anthony Reynolds - Chair of Governors

I have been a community governor at this school for the last four years and this year I have taken the role of Chair.

I am retired after working in Education for the past 35 years and being a governor now means that I can share some of my experience to make Staplegrove an even better school.

I am keen to see that the children in our school enjoy their learning in a safe and caring place so that when they leave, they are keen to learn and are well prepared for the next stage in their education.

Bindi Anstee - SEN Governor

I have been a parent Governor since 2011 when my children started school.

I bring to Governors a background in Further Education and SEND management, then more recently running my own business as a licensed Accountant.

My focus as a Governor is largely around SEND, HR and the schools capacity to enrich the lives of our children.

Brian Hoyle - Health & Safety Governor

I have served on the Governing Body as a Parent Governor for over 4 years, with the aims of representing the interests and views of all parents at the school and working with the governing body and staff for the benefit of the school.

I work in Sports Development for the Somerset Cricket Board, based at the County Cricket Ground in Taunton. My role encompasses working with clubs, running education courses and competitions, accreditation and coaching children to develop their cricket skills.

I have a daughter currently in Cedar Class (Year 5) who has progressed through the school and thoroughly enjoys her time at Staplegrove.

Alan Ranger - Community Governor

I have had a long association with Staplegrove Primary as my grown up son attended the school. I am now retired, but most of my working life was within Education. I was a Primary School Teacher, Headteacher and Local Authority Advisor, all these experiences being within Somerset. It a privilege to work with the staff, children and parents at the school and I hope my previous experiences and expertise will be useful in supporting the school to develop further.

Matt Nolan - Parent Governor

I have recently been appointed as a Parent Governor at the school as I have a strong desire to support the local community in Staplegrove representing the views of parents and children that attend the school.

I have worked in primary education previously and currently I work in Further Education at Richard Huish College where I am a Student Support Manager working across Safeguarding, Mental Health, Student Finance  and Enrichment. I have a background in Sport and Physical Education and believe that children have the ability to learn through effort and hard work.
I feel it is a privilege to be appointed as a Governor and I will use all my knowledge and experience to ensure that the children and staff have the best opportunities possible to succeed.

Iona Young - Ex-officio Governor

I have re-joined the governing body as an ex officio member and representative of St John’s Parochial Church Council. As a retired teacher who has worked in secondary schools and a Sixth Form College I welcome the opportunity to be involved in the education of our children in Staplegrove and I hope some of my professional experience can be of value to our school.

The school enjoys an excellent relationship with St John’s Church and I hope that we will be able to further develop and strengthen these links for the benefit of the school and wider community.
