Church and Community Links
St John's Church, Staplegrove
We are proud of Staplegrove Church School's place at the heart of our local community.
Our school is united with the Staplegrove Benefice, sharing a joint Christian ethos alongside our children, their families, staff, governors and the parish members of St. John’s Church. This adds meaning to the life of our school and the local parish.
Our designated link persons at the church are Rev Paul Irving and Mrs Sandy Robertson (member of the School Local Committee).
We have well-embedded links with our local church community, with regular opportunities to celebrate our shared Christian values:
- Regular collective worship led in school by Rev Paul Irving
- Celebration of key festivals and events in church services: Harvest, Christmas, Easter and celebrating our Year 6 children's transitions to secondary school.
- Worship led by our local Open the Book group, where bible stories are told and thoughtfully explored with the school community.
- Easter Cracked - a deep and reflective exploration of the Easter story with members of a number of local churches, attended yearly by our Year 5 class.
Community links
Staplegrove Church School is proud of our role in the wider community, where we 'look out' and encourage our learning family to be the best version of themselves.
Our links with St John's Church include members of the congregation supporting our school as volunteer readers.
We celebrate our local community during our yearly 'community week'. Our children to become the best version of themselves by learning about and celebrating those who play important roles in our community and also be of service to the community. This is an important opportunity for our school family to 'look out' and understand our spiritual link to the community.
