Cherry Class

This week the children have taken part in rounders and cricket activities as part of our Intrasport days!
The children took part in some activities today in the forest school! We saw some excellent team work taking place!
We have had fun this morning making and drinking smoothies!
During Health week we have made worry dolls to take all our worries away!
The children having been practising their dance skills in Wake and Shake this week!

Another huge thank you for all the support you have given to the children with their homework this year.  They have really enjoyed the Viking topic this term and took so much pride in showing their shields.


Before sending them home to children marched down to the field ready for battle!

We had a fantastic (and eventful) trip to the theatre this week.  The children behaved perfectly and were an absolute pleasure to take.
This week the children have been busy making and painting their Viking Longships.
Some of Cherry class have been enjoying music lessons on a Friday afternoon, they have been doing amazingly well!
Cherry had a fun morning investigating measure! 
The children enjoyed a P.E lesson with Oak this week, working on their reactions and responses!
Today the children began reading their first Graphic Novel- 'Thor & Loki in the Land of Giants'.  They enjoyed taking on the role of the characters and re-telling the opening of the story.
Cherry class had lots of certificates this morning! Another pen licence awarded, two Head Teacher awards and a silver times table! As well as 2 team point winners and a Star of the Week. Well done everyone!
The children had lots of fun this week in their maths investigation. They had to estimate how long an activity would take and then use a stopwatch to time their partner. Then they had to record the time and compare it with their estimate.

This week Cherry & Oak class were visited by Judge Price who asked them to carry out a discussion to decide 'Should solar panels be installed in school.' They participated in a detailed discussion and presented their ideas for the Judge to consider.
Cherry class are very excited about their new topic 'Vicious Vikings!'
The children are choosing a book from the new 'bookcase'.
Cherry class were very lucky to have a visit from Reverend Kivett, who shared the parable of The Good Samaritan with us.  The children were so enthusiastic as they have been learning about the Good Samaritan in their R.E lessons.
The children had a fantastic time at the Athletics festival this week!
The children had fun today using chocolate to investigate fractions!

The children have enjoyed playing their 'Staying Healthy' games this afternoon in class.  I have to say they have completely blown me away with the amazing ideas and amount of work that has gone into designing and creating such an array of games.  A huge well done and a big thank you parents for your continued support.

This week as part of their topic 'Brilliant Bodies' the children have carried out an experiment to find out the effects of different substances on our teeth.  


We used egg shell to represent the enamel of our teeth and put this in squash, vinegar, orange juice, milk and ginger beer to see how the egg changes.  The children have made their predictions and will check what has happened when they return after half term.

The children started a new unit in English this week and were getting into role as the Iron Man!
The children had a fantastic trip to Exeter last Thursday visiting the Synagogue and Catherdral.  They learnt about some of the Jewish ceremonies including a wedding.  We have a few photos from the day!
The children had lots of fun making pizzas on Monday and then created a bar chart to show their favourite topping!
This week the children in Cherry & Oak class were lucky to have Mrs Allen come into school for the afternoon to help them learn all about their heart as part of our 'Brilliant Bodies' topic! The children really enjoyed it!

Happy New Year everyone, I hope you all enjoyed a peaceful and healthy Christmas! Welcome back to the Spring term, we have another very exciting term ahead of us!  A newsletter we will posted online shortly to fill you in with all the details for the next six weeks.
Today Pro Coaching visited the school and each class were able to take part in a Tag Rugby based activity.  The children had lots of fun and got ever so slightly muddy!!!
The children in Cherry class were very lucky this week to have a half an hour Football session with one of the Yeovil Town Community Trust coaches who visited our school on Tuesday.
The children enjoyed a great morning of activities when they attended the Invasion Games Festival at the Taunton Academy on 11th November.

The children have worked very hard on their topic homework projects this half term.  Thank you to you all for your support with these.

The children have a fantastic week in this final week of half term.  They have watched a theatre production of  the 'Noah's Ark' and 'The Lost Sheep.'  Seen the Mayoress open their local park and had a play as well as having their Topic Exit day.  I think they will be ready for their week off!

The children had fun this afternoon in P.E learning some new dance moves!
This week in maths the children have been looking at 2D and 3D shape.  They have had lots of fun sorting and labelling a range of shapes and making 3D models.
