Welcome to Elm Class

2019-2020

Welcome to our class page. We will post regular updates of the wonderful things we have been up to, as well as keeping you informed of our curriculum and any news we may have.
Elm Class had a great afternoon when BoBo the clown came to visit (aka MrsTope!) We had fun practicing some circus skills and even got to throw cream pies at Mrs Tope! Mrs Marlow decorated our arms as various circus animals. We ended the day by flying the kites we made on the school field!
Elm Class have been very busy this term. It all started with a visit from the Jolly Postman, who brought us his story to share and learn in class. We also took great interest in the animals that have been affected by the Australian wild fires. We got in contact with Mrs Tope's friend Lottie, who lives in Australia and set up an experiment with her to compare our weather. We wanted to raise money for the animals in Australia, so decided to hold a sale, selling things we have made in class to help our own animals in the U.K. We have enjoyed collecting sticks to make mini bug hotels and getting a bit messy when making bird seed cakes. We wrote letters home, inviting our parents to come to our sale and the Jolly Postman returned to collect them and take them to the sorting office! Watch this space for an update on how our sale went and what we decide to do with the money raised.
Elm Class have had a busy last week of the Autumn term. We have enjoyed a Christmas lunch, posted our letters to Santa and even met him in person! Merry Christmas from Elm Class!
Elm Class have been performing their version of the Nativity story this week. They have worked so hard with learning their lines and the songs and have given the most amazing performances! We are super impressed with how confident they all are to get up on the stage in front of so many people. A class of budding performers! Thanks to all the families and friends who have come to watch and support our talented young people.
Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who attended our Inspire session. It was a great turn out. We hope it gave you a flavour of how the children engage with their phonics learning in school.
We enjoyed exploring our outside and woodland area. We found lots of interesting things and talked about how we know Autumn is on it's way!
The children have had a great first few weeks and have settled in really well. They have been enjoying exploring their new classroom environment and making new friends.
