Our Vision and Christian Distinctiveness

At Staplegrove Church School, our vision is to be a learning family, being the best versions of ourselves.

Our vision is theologically underpinned by our commitment for all members of the school family to enjoy "Life, life in all its fullness." John 10:10.

Christian Values are at the heart of our school family. Our core Values of Respect, Courage, Perseverance, Thankfulness, Truthfulness and Friendship were chosen by the whole school community and are integral to our school’s work.

Our values are understood, celebrated and lived and help form our school's safe and nurturing environment where everyone can be the best version of themselves. We celebrate our Christian distinctiveness, Values and spirituality by looking in, looking out and looking up.

Looking in, our Christian Values are celebrated in weekly celebration worship. Looking out, our Values are celebrated in work with our local community. Looking up, the school family celebrates and acknowledges opportunities for wider spiritual development through visits, pause moments and opportunities to deepen connections with our school church.

Daily Act of Collective Worship

Our themes of daily Collective Worship at Staplegrove Church School are led by our Christian Values, world events, national awareness days and religious festivals. Religious festivals and other significant events take place in our local church, St John's the Evangelist, Staplegrove , with which we have a flourishing and embedded connection.

Our aim is that all children will be able to understand and demonstrate our school vision and Christian Values, enabling them to have life in all its fullness.

Religious Education
Religious Education is taught in accordance with the agreed syllabus of Understanding Christianity and in line with the Statement of Entitlement for Religious Education. We also use Diocesan guidelines as available to church schools. As part of the development of our Religious Education, we are in the process of introducing and embedding a Worldviews approach for the teaching of wider world religions and worldviews.

Our Church

Our school is united with the Staplegrove Benefice, sharing in a joint Christian Ethos comprising of our children, their families, staff, governors and the parish members of St. John’s the Evangelist Church. This adds meaning to the life of our school and the local parish.

Our designated link persons at the church are Rev Paul Irving and Mrs Sandy Robertson (member of the School Local Committee).
