Welcome to Cedar Class 2024-25

The class teacher is Mrs Mitchell. The children are supported by Mrs Ellis, and Mrs Cox will teach French and Music on a Tuesday afternoon.  

Key Information

• Learning practice is set on a Monday and is due in the following Monday. Please see below for further details.
• P.E days are Wednesday. Children are expected to come into school wearing their school uniform. P.E will take place either inside or outside. 

Learning Practice

• Children are provided with a learning practice folder. The learning practise sheet for each week will be added to this each Monday and will be completed and brought back to school by the following Monday.
• Below are the expectations for Year 5:

Daily: Ten minutes of reading a school reading book every night. Record in reading journal for each book read.

Daily: Times Table Rockstars – games-based website supporting times-table learning.

Weekly: 10 spellings for all children

Weekly: Maths, English grammar or English comprehension practice

 

Our Class News:

Friday 12th September 

The children have made an excellent start to the year. It has been so lovely to see all of our children coming back to school with such a positive attitude, ready to learn. 

We have started our new topic all about The Amazon, and as a class have enjoyed getting stuck into our class book, The Explorer.  

In Science, we have tested the properties of different materials. The children enjoyed discovering which materials were magnetic, electrically conductive, absorbent and waterproof. It was safe to say, however, that the highlight of the lesson was watching and listening to the thrill of the thunderstorm!
