Daily Act of Collective Worship

Our themes of daily Collective Worship at Staplegrove Church School are led by our Christian Values, world events, national awareness days and religious festivals.

Each half term, we focus particularly on one of our core Christian Values, linking this with bible stories, world events and opportunities for children to reflect using our approach to spirituality.

Collective Worship to mark religious festivals and other significant events take place with our local church community, St John's, Staplegrove, with whom we have a flourishing and embedded connection. We are also visited termly by Open the Book who share and deeply explore bible stories linked to festivals and our values.

Our aim is that all children will be able to understand and demonstrate our school vision and Christian Values, enabling them to have life in all its fullness.

 

Engagement in worship

Collective Worship at Staplegrove Church School is invitational - it is open to those of all faiths and those of no faith. We believe that our Christian Values and the themes and messages within our Collective Worships build an inclusive culture which celebrates each individual's unique self and experiences.

We invite parents to join our weekly Celebration Worship and our visits to St John's Church so that they are enabled to play a part in our collective celebration of both our children and our Christian values.

 

Worship Champions

A team of worship champions have the responsibility of monitoring Collective Worship and sharing their feedback with staff, ensuring that our Worships are inclusive, inspiring and invitational.

Our worship champions also lead Collective Worship and support Revd Paul in delivering services when we visit St John's Church, Staplegrove.

An example of a weekly programme of Collective Worship is below:

Half termly theme: truthfulness

Monday: strategies for supporting our emotions - worship led by the Wellbeing champions

Tuesday: Bible Story of Adam and Eve - link with truthfulness

Wednesday: Class worship - deeper exploration of the story of Adam and Eve. 

EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2: why is it important to tell the truth?

Year 3 and 4: what might happen when we try to hide the truth?

Year 5 and 6: is telling the truth always the right thing to do, even if it leads to consequences?

Thursday: Singing worship

Friday: Celebration worship - children celebrating achievements out of school and awarding stars of the week linked with the school values.
