Remote Learning

Remote learning information

During this challenging period of the global pandemic Staplegrove Church School have provided a blended learning approach for children with remote education a last resort to keep everyone safe.

When an individual child is required to isolate they will directed to ‘Oak Academy’ to access appropriate learning resources. They will be contacted every other day by a member of school staff.

If a class is required to self-isolate due to being a close contact or due to staff being absent for covid related reasons with no alternative cover possible then the following procedure will take place:

Day one of remote education will give the teachers the chance to set up and organise the offer. Children will be directed to Oak Academy.

From day 2 teachers will provide recorded lessons on the website for children to access.

In KS1 this will be for English (including phonics), Maths and one foundation subject a day. The online video and follow up learning will be 45 minutes per subject.

In KS2 this will be for English, Maths and 2 foundation subjects per day. The online learning and follow up learning will be 45 minutes per subject.

These videos will be supported by documents which should help you and your children to learn effectively. We believe that this is the best way of catering to the needs of most in terms of ease of access to ensure children and parents are not becoming stressed or pressurised by time, particularly those with more than one child.

This learning will follow the same curriculum the children receive in school and feedback will be provided once children submit their work via email (photo of learning).

In addition to this, based on the feedback from our families, we have added a daily live meetings for parents and children to meet with teachers and discuss the learning which they have been completing at home. This is the first port of call if you need extra support or advice with what your child or children have been doing.

You will receive a phone call from your teacher at least once a week to check in and support in any way we can. However, please do not wait for this call if you have an issue or concern. Each class has an email address and this is checked daily with responses coming as soon as teachers are able to around their teaching commitments.

If you have any questions or require support with access to online resources, including creating hard copies, then please get in contact with the school.
