History

History at Staplegrove Church School will inspire and fire children’s curiosity about the past in Britain and the wider world and help them to understand the diversity of human experience. Staplegrove children will be able to draw on comparisons and make connections between different time periods and their own lives, developing their Historical chronology.

We teach history because it provides children with the opportunities to:

  • Empathise with others

  • Argue a point of view and reach their own conclusions

  • Ask perceptive questions.

  • Think critically.

  • Weigh evidence.

  • Develop perspective and judgement.

  • Understand that what happened in the past is still relevant today.

We will identify and use opportunities for cross-curricular learning. We will offer children relevant enrichment opportunities to broaden and enhance their History experience to develop well-rounded Staplegrove Historians.
