Our Class news:
Friday 2nd October:
The children have thoroughly enjoyed reading The Three Little Pigs and have now begun exploring Home Is Where the Birds Sing. We have been learning lots of new vocabulary and discussing the meaning behind key phrases from the story, such as “home is where you come in from the rain.” The children have also shared their thoughts about why the older lady calls the girl “sweetie” and “dear,” leading to some lovely conversations about kindness and caring relationships. In Maths, we have been working hard on developing our quick subitising skills, recognising small quantities without needing to count them. The children have also made a fantastic start in Phonics and have already learnt the first 10 sounds!Outdoor learning has been a real highlight this week, with the children enjoying imaginative play and pretending to make bird food, inspired by our story. It has been wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm in action.Friday 18th September:
Elm Class have had a great start to their education journey and their time at Staplegrove School. We have been settling into our new classroom, making friends and getting to grips with all aspects of school life. We have enjoyed exploring the different areas of Elm Class. Inside we have been painting ice lolly pictures that remind us of summer, threading beads on the funky fingers table and squishing playdoh into lots of food shapes in our pretend restaurant for some very demanding customers! Outside, we have been loving the water play, role playing in the little house and have been challenging our balancing on the beams and wobbly ropes. We have been developing our listening skills whilst hearing stories about starting school. Our literacy book this week is The Colour Monster. We have had lots of discussions about feelings and emotions as well as learning some strategies to help us keep calm and happy.
